In the US we cherish the many freedoms guaranteed to us by the Constitution. There are however; limits to those freedoms. We have free speech, but I was always taught that such a freedom does not mean that one can walk into a crowded theater and yell FIRE! We have the freedom to worship God through the religion of our choice, but we do not tolerate forcing individual religious beliefs on others. We have the right to bear arms, but there are limits to when and where fire arms, hand guns specifically may be carried. We have the right to gather and protest, but not in such a fashion as to impose hardship on others.
We also have the right to say NO! No to stupidity No to those that wish to build a monument to the cowards that killed 3,000 innocent Americans on the very spot the act took place. I don't believe that the average American could care less that a Muslim Imam would like to build a Mosque in New York, but I think most Americans believe that building such a structure at Ground Zero is no different than the Japanese building a monument to their Air Force at Pearl Harbor, or Germans Building a monument to Adolph Hitler in Jerusalem, or the United States building a replica of the Enola Gaye in Hiroshima, or Nagasaki. None of those actions would ever even be mentioned in public much less discussed as serious, but it's ok for a Mosque to be built at GROUND ZERO?
Allowing a Mosque to be built on Ground Zero is not a testament to our countries unyielding adherence to our freedoms, it is a yielding of our rights as a people and we should never let that happen. Period.
